THEY CALL THE WIND MARIAH?

I'm not sure where they call the wind Mariah but here we called the wind a NIGHTMARE today! In our city it got up over 80 miles an hour. Fifteen miles from here it got up over 102 miles per hour. It knocked down trees, power lines, fences--all kinds of things. They closed the freeways to high profile vehicles. I guess there were a few semi's blown over on the freeway. Our neighbor lost a couple of large trees and several of our neighbors lost fences, shingles off roofs and we even saw one shed on it's side.Thousands of people are without power tonight and it is really cold and still really windy. Although, the winds have calmed and slowed from what they were. I was listening to the weather report and they said this happens about once every ten years. I do remember a couple of other times we had wind like this and it was about that long in between. We are all fine and luckily we don't have any damage. We feel really blessed. Rob, Julie and I were able to go help one of our neighbors begin removing parts of a big tree that fell. He and his wife couldn't even leave their driveway because it fell across it. So, we helped them move enough of it that they could drive around it. Quite a day! BTW, I just looked up the word Mariah, it's Jewish for bitter. That explains a lot! Lol!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY WEEKEND EVERYONE

Rob and I got up early this morning and drove our nieces back to meet their parents. (Half way was six hours.) They came and stayed with us for Thanksgiving. Actually, we dropped one of them back off at college and the other two off with their parents. We had a fun holiday with them. They live far enough away that our kids never get to spend time together and since this is Julie's last year at home we thought it would be great to have them all be together for a holiday. They had a blast. We really did have a nice holiday followed by a tiny bit of Black Friday shopping and a little bit of playing around last night. I will tell you a bit more later but for tonight I'm exhausted. Too much holiday partying. Lol! Happy Holidays everyone!

More Dyer Girls Growing Up

The Girls

Happy Birthday Sara!

On our way to the Grand Canyon we made a stop in Cedar City to see Sara and Katie. We weren't able to see Katie but we did take Sara out for her birthday dinner. Then we all went to see a movie together and watched fireworks afterward. We had a great time! It was so fun to just be together. The next day we stopped and had lunch with Sara at her work just before we left for the Canyon. Here's a photo of the girls together. Aren't they cute?

Julie, Julie, Julie . . . Do You Love Me . . .

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me? Our 14 year old is too shy to leave a message on someone's answering machine if she calls and they are not home and yet she can get up on a stage and perform like this in front of hundreds of people. Does that seem odd to anyone else? Yah, I thought so.

Seriously though, isn't she a cutie (she's the one in the pink, black and white dress with the white top)? We sure think so. She's got a great voice and a ton of talent!

We are sure proud of you, Julie. We love you!
